The Zeta Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was chartered on December 15, 1955 and quickly became an active organization within the community. As a result of years of dedication on behalf of its members, the chapter experienced growth and an increase in the services and programs. The Zeta Upsilon Omega Chapter has donated over half a million dollars to the community through charitable donations, service projects, and educational scholarships. Strong leadership and an active membership historically have continued to foster the success of the chapters programs and activities.

The Youth Development Foundation of Pinellas County, Inc. (YDF) was founded in 1998 by the ladies of Zeta Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. to enhance their legacy of service to the community and is a designated 501c (3) organization. The mission of YDF is to the enhance the quality of life for targeted youth and families in Pinellas County, by securing funds to provide program activities and services, which focus on education and scholarships, health, the arts, the family unit and foster economic and community development within our community. YDF serves as a catalyst for positive learning and youth development and strives to meet the growing needs of thousands of youth and families throughout Pinellas County.
