2024-2025 Program

The AKA AKAdemy provides a structured and holistic youth development program designed to assist youth and adolescents to enhance their vision and perspective of society while providing positive mentoring in pursuit of school success and a healthy, productive and sustainable productive community.

Our Approach

  • Youth are viewed as a valued and respected asset to society
  • Programs are focused on the developmental needs of adolescents
  • Youth are viewed as partners in planning and program implementation
  • Activities are designed to enhance the youth’s competence, connections, character, confidence and contribution to society
  • Activities provide a safe environment to develop positive social values and norms
  • Adolescents should be engaged in activities that promote self-understanding, self-worth, a sense of belonging and resiliency

The AKAdemy Application

Applications are accepted year round however, enrollment occurs April through June for the following year.  There is limited space and participants are accepted on a first-come/first-served basis.

This program is funded by the Pinellas County Juvenile Welfare Board and the Youth Development Foundation of Pinellas County, Inc. We have partnered with the men of the Eta Rho chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. who mentor the Pathfinders.

On Saturday, March 18th Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Zeta Upsilon Omega Chapter, in partnership with the Youth Development Foundation of Pinellas County, Inc., presented eleven beautiful young ladies for our 12th Biennial Essence of Ebony Pearls Debutante Scholarship Cotillion. Congratulations to Miss Debutante 2023, Attendants, Award Winners and all of our Debutantes!
